Welcome to The FIGE Project

What is FIGE?

Fuck It, Good Enough, or The FIGE Project, is an ongoing Transformers community art project focused on collaborative creative work through the production of zines. In contrast to art books, zines are less formal and are intended to be a method of sharing art and information that is accessible to the masses. This comes in many forms, including physical zines which are printable from your home or library computer, and digital zines only meant to be shared online. It is this accessibility and variety that makes them suitable for the project’s goals.

The name of the project is also our motto. While many creatives strive to put forward their best work, we can often become hypercritical of ourselves, leading us to agonize over the creative process and hide our work away from others. A social atmosphere of expecting only the best can also lead to new creatives who are too afraid to pick up their desired craft in the first place because of embarrassment or possible backlash for being a beginner. All of these fears and anxieties are what the project wants to push against, and we aim to do that in a few ways.

No Juries

No one will ever be turned away from participating in a zine based on perceived skill level. If you follow the project's rules and your submission meets the thematic requirements of the project’s current zine, you’ll have a spot in it.

Everything is Art

This project firmly believes that anything can be art, and that no medium should be considered more valuable than others. Because of this we aim to create zines that focus on a variety of mediums, including digital art, traditional art, crafting, photography, writing and more. While some zines may be limited to one medium, many of them will be based around a theme and any medium used to create something that fits the theme will be welcomed into the zine.

Critique to Build Community

We are committed to building a community where members aren’t afraid to share and grow through feedback. Critique can often be intimidating! But when you learn how to do it productively and with kindness, it can be an excellent way to improve as an artist. Critique is only to be given when it is asked for, so members don’t need to be afraid that they’ll receive discouraging, unsolicited advice. We want to share resources, knowledge, and encouraging words whenever we can.
